Still wondering where the jobs from the stimulus actually went to. I see all sorts of orange barrels and other 'infrastructurally important' things going on around them.
It would be brilliant if something were announced that would bring jobs to people that were duped into taking out loans and going to college with expectations that it would result in any sort of employment.
For now I will continue to chip in with my 15 part-time hours a week and watch as my wife works to keep us alive.

McCarthyism Returns As McCainism/Palinism
During the 1940s and 50s the United States was under the guidance of corruption via J. Edgar Hoover and Jospeh McCarthy. This was a time under what most people call McCarthyism. People were living in fear that they would be blacklisted (denied work or other rights because of an assumed belief or association). It all started when the fear of Communism after World War 2 became a commonly believed threat to the United States and the rest of the world.
After the actions of blacklisting and McCarthyism stepped on enough toes and divided the nation to a point of implosion it was over.
In present day America we have a new spark of McCarthyism that can now be called McCainism.
After Sarah Palin's remarks on "real" America there have been follow-ups from other Republican politicians such as Michele Bachmann (R, Minnesota) who said that,
'...Obama “may have anti-American views” and calling for the media to investigate other Democrats with “anti-American” views in congress. [This would presumably require their removal from office, not just because they would be serving an institution they do not support, but because they all take an oath of office to uphold the constitution].'
This accusation and call for partisan investigation is evidence that not only certain Republicans view Democrats as "anti-american" but the McCain/Palin campaign and would-be administration would possibly conduct 'witch-hunts' after talking so much about "Reaching across the aisle".
John McCain and Sarah Palin represent an inherent danger to the fabric of America in one of the nations most volatile moments in history.
On the cusp of another Great Depression they are asking americans to choose sides in way HUAC would have been proud of - enter, McCainism.

Apple - The College Campaign
In the last few months we have been bombarded with some of the most annoying ads on television. Whether it is John McCain or Barack Obama, Kilroy or Stivers (here in Ohio) and Apple or PC?
At first I was rather annoyed by any and all of the political ads. Now, I have a new pet peeve - Apple.
They started with the Mac/PC commercials (which I think are hilarious and true in many ways...even as a dedicated PC user). I live in Athens, Ohio - Home of Ohio University. Every time I am "uptown" I usually end up going to the local hot spot, Donkey Coffee and Espresso. While I must admit I enjoy the cozy nature of the shop I am also starting to become rather disenchanted (and no, it isn't all the hippies).
Each time I go in there I am greeted by five to ten college students and their glowing MacBooks. Usually they are trying to look like they are working intently on some type of masterpiece or screenplay. Actually, now that I think about it- they most resemble a sad fraternity of techno-greek life.
Recently I realized that they are all victims of a cruel campaign that is feeding on their ignorance of the issues.
While McCain and Obama both depend on certain portions of society to believe every word that comes tumbling out of their mouth, so does Apple.
Apple has become the angry third party in a two party system. Unfortunatley the two parties have been PC or Nothing for many years.
Apple managed to win over the hearts and minds of schools in the 1990's. I remember how it felt to have something new and shiny in my classes. Then, after playing Oregon Trail and typing a few things in 5th grade I realized that I missed playing Doom and being able to 'right click' my parents PC (This was the same time when 256 MB hard drives were AMAZINGLY HUGE).
Even at that point Apple still wasn't taking a real marketshare.
Then came the MP3 and the iPod. Apple found a way into the hearts and minds of teens everywhere. Afterall, someone had to give the kids something to play their stolen music on and CD players just couldn't hold all of those half-assed auto-tuned singles of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Once the iPod became the most popular thing in the teenage mind it was only a matter of time before they started asking for anything else Apple created. Once these kids went off to college it was all a matter of convincing their parents that Macbooks were what they needed for college.
Mission accomplished.
Now you can go into any coffeeshop in college towns everywhere and you will see a trendy college student listening to their iPod while they work on the next Britney Spears single.

Gamer Etiquette 101
Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Madden football; they all have one thing in common. Online gamers. The rise of online video games has brought an amazing amount of people to gaming. Unfortunately, this is also the greatest downfall as well. Many newcomers lack any sense of decency or cooth when communicating. The terms and slurs used online are
among some of the dirtiest and unsavory anyone has heard. Most parents would be surprised to hear some of the words coming out of their little twelve-year-olds mouth when they are down in the basement. I suggest hiding a tape recorder somewhere near where your child plays videogames online and enjoy the line of trash-talk and cursing.
Here are a couple quick tips for gamers to help "keep your cool".

Here are a couple quick tips for gamers to help "keep your cool".
- The Mute Option Is Your Friend - If someone is annoying you, simply go to the primary menu and mute them.
- Don't Stumble To Their Level - If someone is being ridiculous and immature it does not make you a better man to say something just as vulger or dirty in response... be the bigger man (or woman).
- It Happens - Sometimes you will lose your cool. Keep in mind that you should have used options 1 and 2 - and don't forget to pwn that trash-talking fool!
