Gamer Etiquette 101

Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Madden football; they all have one thing in common. Online gamers. The rise of online video games has brought an amazing amount of people to gaming. Unfortunately, this is also the greatest downfall as well. Many newcomers lack any sense of decency or cooth when communicating. The terms and slurs used online are
among some of the dirtiest and unsavory anyone has heard. Most parents would be surprised to hear some of the words coming out of their little twelve-year-olds mouth when they are down in the basement. I suggest hiding a tape recorder somewhere near where your child plays videogames online and enjoy the line of trash-talk and cursing.

Here are a couple quick tips for gamers to help "keep your cool".

  1. The Mute Option Is Your Friend - If someone is annoying you, simply go to the primary menu and mute them.
  2. Don't Stumble To Their Level - If someone is being ridiculous and immature it does not make you a better man to say something just as vulger or dirty in response... be the bigger man (or woman).
  3. It Happens - Sometimes you will lose your cool. Keep in mind that you should have used options 1 and 2 - and don't forget to pwn that trash-talking fool!
